About the Role

As an LTL Sales Representative at OpenRoad Transportation, Inc. (ORT), you will be responsible for the growth and retention of our LTL customers portfolio, selling our industry-leading LTL services, with the full support of a team of professionals, processes, and technology behind you. You will develop new and existing customer relationships and lead pricing negotiations in order to move their LTL freight in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Identify prospects utilizing ZoomInfo®, web search engines, personal networking, industry publications, etc.
  • Utilize research skills to prepare for sales calls and identify decision makers
  • Cold call leads
  • Drive growth and retention with our customers to create value add solutions for both our customers and our carriers
  • Identify prospect needs and educate/persuade prospects to utilize ORT’s service offerings, cross-selling when appropriate
  • Research and understand market trends, industry standards, and localized environments to provide accurate quotes/pricing
  • Maintain and develop relationships with prospect and existing customer accounts
  • Collaborate with operations and carrier teams to ensure complete load visibility
  • Provide a macro view of industry and educate network commercial leadership on current market trends/pressures. Act as a subject matter expert to transfer knowledge within the network and our external customers.
  • Possess a sense of urgency in all matters, especially concerning problem resolution and prevention
  • Possess excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of LTL road freight experience in a similar position preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of LTL pricing, carrier base rates, fuel surcharges, accessorial and rules
  • Strong commercial skills and demonstrated ability to drive business results
  • Excellent organizational, project management and communication skills
  • Ability to build strategic, collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated strategic orientation, negotiation skills and business expertise
  • Comfortable engaging with all levels including senior leadership, carriers and customers
  • Social competences: acts as team player and builds relationships easily (non-hierarchical attitude)
