About the Role

As an Ocean Freight Forwarding Import and Export Personnel at OpenRoad Transportation, Inc. (ORT) you are an enthusiastic professional who is passionate about import and export operations. You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the movement of goods by sea, ensuring efficient and timely delivery while complying with international trade regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the end-to-end import and export processes for ocean freight shipments.
  • Liaise with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Prepare and process relevant shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable trade regulations and customs requirements.
  • Monitor and track shipments, providing regular updates to customers regarding the status and estimated delivery times.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to optimize supply chain processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Handle and resolve any customer inquiries or complaints related to ocean freight operations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ocean freight forwarding, specifically in import and export operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with various ocean freight services, including FCL (full container load) and LCL (less than container load).
  • Proficient in using freight management software systems and other relevant tools. Cargowise One is especially desirable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with customers, carriers, and colleagues.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle challenges and make sound decisions.
  • Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those commonly used in international trade, is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in logistics or supply chain management are desirable.
