About the Role

OpenRoad is looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join our growing IT team, reporting to the VP of Information Systems. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to not only meet but exceed the technological aspirations of our organization. You will play a pivotal role in cultivating strong relationships with our dedicated staff, collaborating closely to devise innovative solutions. Your influence will extend beyond coding, as you coordinate seamlessly with fellow IT professionals to design, rigorously test, and implement these solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly analyze user requirements to precisely understand and address their needs.
  • Conceptualize, design, test, and develop software solutions that effectively fulfill identified user needs.
  • Recommend and implement upgrades for existing systems and programs to enhance overall functionality and performance.
  • Develop individual software elements that seamlessly integrate into the larger program, ensuring cohesive and efficient operation.
  • Create clear diagrams, flowcharts, and models to visually articulate both user needs and the corresponding software solutions.
  • Ensure the sustained functionality of programs during maintenance and software testing phases.
  • Document each facet of a system or application comprehensively, serving as a valuable reference for future upgrades and maintenance activities.
  • Proactively revisit the development process to promptly address and fix bugs, as well as to respond to client or consumer concerns effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred
  • 5 years of experience in software development, integration, and automation
  • Expert knowledge of programming languages, XML, JSON
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
