For the 2nd Time, OpenRoad Transportation Appears on the Inc. 5000, Ranking No. 3740 With Three-Year Revenue Growth of 88.4 Percent
NEW YORK, August 17, 2021 – Inc. magazine today revealed that OpenRoad Transportation is No. 3740 on its annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses. Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, Microsoft, Patagonia, and many other well-known names gained their first national exposure as honorees on the Inc. 5000.
We asked Scott Brewen, VP of Commercial Strategy at OpenRoad, where he saw the company in 5 years:
“OpenRoad will certainly continue to grow in the next 5 years in a similarly exponential manner. It would be difficult not to! Our growth will continue to be driven by two factors; a great workplace that attracts talented people who share our values and enjoy providing service to our customers, and delighted customers who tell others about the high level of personalized service they receive from OpenRoad. It is a simple formula that is so often lost in corporate America where companies seem more focused on pushing toward arbitrary numbers than on valuing the people that make the numbers possible. For OpenRoad, growth has never been forced or pressured, but rather is the natural result of a daily desire to work hard and deliver a quality product.”
We asked Kyle Wyatt, Customer Sales Representative, what his favorite part was about working at OpenRoad:
“OpenRoad fosters a family-oriented culture that creates a unique realism in an industry that solely focuses on numbers and growth. Management from the top down strikes the right balance of allowing their sales professionals enough autonomy to grow professionally, while always being near enough to offer support, skill development and the necessary tools for long-term success.”
We asked Donica Andersen, HR Manager, how OpenRoad has grown during her time with the company:
“When I first started at OpenRoad over 7 years ago, the technology we employed was basic, however it allowed us to get our jobs done and focus on our customers’ experience – which is a fundamental building block for OpenRoad’s success. As OpenRoad continued to grow exponentially (and organically) to the size we are today, we have heavily reinvested our profits to build out a phenomenal technology infrastructure. We currently employ the industry’s most cutting edge tools which allow us to give our people what they need to succeed in their careers and to give our customers a superior logistics experience.”
Not only have the companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 been very competitive within their markets, but this year’s list also proved especially resilient and flexible given 2020’s unprecedented challenges. Among the 5,000, the average median three-year growth rate soared to 543 percent, and median revenue reached $11.1 million. Together, those companies added more than 610,000 jobs over the past three years.
Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000.
“The 2021 Inc. 5000 list feels like one of the most important rosters of companies ever compiled,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing. This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”
